Jólnir Claus

Adopted son of the Clauses, the wayward heir

Jack of Diamonds

As many little lads aspire to be, Jolnir is precocious and occasionally rude. While it’s not entirely clear who would have selected his wardrobe, Jolnir perpetually sports well-pressed formal wear. You would be forgiven for mistaking him for an old soul who knows nothing of disguising himself as a child.

Like all Clauses, Jolnir thinks of little beside ways to spread revelry across the winter solstice. And yet unlike his elders, Jolnir has yet to find his own groove in this long play. So he exasperates much of his curiosity searching for whatever he will do as an elder Claus.

In Conversation

Jolnir asks questions upon questions, attempting to learn why things are the way they are. He often feels like a vortex of "why."

Trouble

Jolnir takes counsel with the always-very-spooky Ghost of Christmas Future.

Normal

Jolnir wants nothing more than to be Santa now. He parries any notion that it's not time yet with the idea that "it could be."

Tier 1

Jolnir's tutor has quit. Therefore you have been charged with teaching the boy a lesson on the topic of your choice. The only advice you've been given is that this week, Jolnir has agreed to stop asking "why" quite so much, so long as the person they're asking has made a good faith effort to respond.

Tier 2

Jolnir won't stop talking about Lord Claus' succession plan and would like to concrete evidence that he's going to inherit everything. To assist you with this task, he's procured the services of the Ghost of Christmas Future. The spectral wraith at Jolnir's side can provide visions of the future: Would you mind letting its bony fingers push you out of time so you can view how everything's going to turn out, then report back?

Tier 3

Significant numbers of house staff have tendered their resignations, complaining that seeing visions of the future was not part of the job description. The Ghost of Christmas Future does not know when to stop and Jolnir seems unwilling to rein it in. If there's any way to bind a spirit that knows every approach you might take, it's recommended you find it, or the household is likely to lapse into chaos.

Tier 4

Jolnir has set up an office in the Gallery, declaring himself the Once and Future Claus. The manor grounds now seem to be attracting hordes of spectral figures, each one silent, only communicating by chill touch and wild hallucination. Luckily, a pair of paranormal investigators have arrived, toting a dangerous and experimental "ghost hose" that will either solve the problem or destroy everything.
